SeaHiker, represented by Naxin Zhang and Jan Hoefnagels, participated the Offshore Wind Trade Mission to Japan on September 21 to 25. The mission was organized by the Dutch Ministry of Climate Policy and Green Growth, Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), TKI Offshore Energy, Holland Home of Wind Energy (HHWE) with huge support of the Dutch Embassy in Japan.
Japan has great ambition and plans for a massive expansion of offshore wind energy. Due to its costal waterscape, floating wind will be the mainstream of future development.
On September 22, the MoU between HHWE of The Netherlands and FLOWRA (Floating Offshore Wind Research Association) of Japan was signed. The aim is to stimulate technology development and industrial collaboration between the two countries. The ceremonial photo session was attended by minister Sophie Hermans and her Japanese counterpart.
The Dutch delegation went through Osaka, Kitakyushu and Tokyo within a 5 days’ intense program, and participated in several high-level conferences and seminars to understand the market needs and explore collaboration opportunities. SeaHiker values every event of the program, and all discussions with the Japanese peers as well as the Dutch delegates. Our sincere appreciation to the organizers, especially RVO and HHWE for having us onboard.
SeaHiker is a start-up and holds several patented technologies to solve key issues for offshore wind, amongst others: (1) Single Anchor Mooring system to save CAPEX of FOWT mooring by 75% and reduce ecological impact to the seabed, and (2) In-situ Large Component Exchange without structural change of the current turbines.
During the mission days in Japan, We had the opportunities to present our technologies. SeaHiker received serious attentions of FLOWRA and several Japanese corporates. We are seeking support to validate and finance the further developments of our technologies.
